CENTRAL OHIO SCI LIVE AUCTION LISTINGS,  2012 BANQUET

Here are some early arrivals for this year’s Live Auction.  We’ll continue to add items as quickly as possible so as to provide all prospective bidders time to review the various offerings.  Four of our board members will be attending the SCI banquet in Las Vegas,  Feb. 1- Feb. 4 and will be doing their best to secure a number of quality hunts and other items.   

NOTE #1:  As stated by Mark Wehinger in his President’s Message (November newsletter)“Any donations from chapter members will be very much appreciated.  EX:  use of a vacation condo, hunts, used guns, boats, fishing trips,  house painting, carpet cleaning, OSU or BLUE JACKETS tickets, accounting work, etc., etc.,  We can use it!!!  Also... call Tim McKelvey to discuss any possible donation and receive one free $1000. POLARIS SHOPPING SPREE ticket ($20. value) for every $100. worth of value donation.   EX:  Donate an item with an agreed upon value of $400. and receive four (4) tickets on the $1000. POLARIS MALL SHOPPING SPREE.

1. WHEELBARROW OF BOOZE: This brand new wheelbarrow and the 20 containers of “liquid refreshment are just what’s needed to kick off tonight’s activities!!!

2. Newfoundland Moose & Ptarmigan:  Trevor Keough of Rock Camp Outfitters has donated a 6-day hunt for 3 hunters to harvest 3 bull moose and hunt ptarmigan.  Hunt to take place September or October , 2012 or 2013.  This is a rifle or bow hunt and includes float plane or helicopter flight into camp, lodging, meals, and guiding.  Each hunter is responsible for his moose tag @ $450.00 each.  Black Bear tags can be added for $400.00 each and ptarmigan/small game tags for $125.00. Hotel room before hunt $100.00; and after hunt $100.00.  Trevor will provide the necessary Canadian gun forms.  Passports required.  This has been a VERY popular hunt and eight of our chapter members have experienced 100% success on moose with Trevor and his staff.  You can read a recent/2011 Rock Camp moose hunt report that’s posted on our chapter web site.  Note:  Ask Barry Casoli about the great trout fishing right out their front door.

3.  OHIO DEER YOUTH HUNT:   Stay the evening in a heated cabin in Southern Delaware County and hunt with a bow, slug gun, or muzzleloader.  Snacks and beverages included, plus breakfast cooked to order.  This has been a great Dad/Uncle/Grand Dad or Mom and youth outing.  Results of the last 15 SCI youth hunts I’ve donated have been 100%!!!  Contact Tim McKelvey (614) 891-5309, or cell: (614) 309-0281 or email at Tim12Gauge@insight.rr.com  for particulars. 4.  INDIANHEAD RANCH:  Our longtime friends , Laurent and Diane Delagrange have once again donated a $2000. certificate which can be applied towards any of their game animals.  Located just north of Del Rio, Texas, this beautiful 10,000 acre ranch borders the pristine waters of Devils River and is teaming with game (over 30 species) . 5.  EASTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA, with RICHARD HOLMES SAFARIS:
This is a 10 day safari for 4 hunters or 2 hunters and 2 non-hunters and includes:  Daily rates and trophy fees for 6 animals:  2 South African (common) Springbok, I Black Springbok, 2 Mountain Reedbuck and 1 Blesbok (common)  Must be at least 2 hunters and sharing the donated game evenly.  Also includes all hunting transportation, full service of staff, professional hunters (2 X 1), pick up in Port Elizabeth and transfer to camp, hunting licenses, trophy handling/raw prep and permit fees, daily laundry service, all meals and open bar in moderation.  You’ll stay in their comfortable, modern, thatched rondavel complex with full amenities and dining lodge.  Not included:  Additional trophy fees for game taken over and above animals included in the package, taxidermy fees, trophy transportation, dipping, packing and shipping the trophies after the safari, any additional days added to the safari, side trips and tours, additional persons (hunters/non hunters), airline flights and gratuities.  One pre-safari night is required in Johannesburg at the buyer’s expense (approx. $100. per room)

10 day safari schedule as follows:  Day Zero,, arrive Johannesburg and overnight at Afton Guesthouse.  (approx. $100.per room)  Day 1, fly to Port Elizabeth, be picked up and transferred to camp.  Days 2-9 are full hunting days.  Day 10, you’ll be driven to Port Elizabeth after breakfast.  This is a rifle only hunt and can be taken in 2013, 2014 or 2015.

6.  KENTUCKY TROPHY BUCKS:  Our long time supporter, Chuck Stephens, is donating a 3 day deer  muzzleloader hunt for 2 hunters in Christian County, Ky. This is a fully guided hunt for 2 trophy whitetail.  Included with this hunt will be all Southern cooked meals, lodging in their new 3 bedroom, 2 bath lodge , with laundry facilities and cable TV, guides, field transportation and game care.  This hunt to be taken December 15th, 16th, 17th, 2012.  Winning bidder and accompanying hunter will arrive around lunchtime on Friday, December 14 and hunt on the 15th, 16th and 17th.  Additional hunters can be added at a cost of $1700. each.  Upgrade to hunt with modern firearm can be done for an additional $800. per hunter.  

NOTE:  Christian County, (Hopkinsville), in Western Ky,  is one of the top producing counties in the nation for Pope & Young entries. 7.  N.W. MONTANA BLACK BEAR HUNT:  Len Howells, outfitter/owner of Silver Bow Outfitters has once again provided our chapter with a 5 day, 2 hunter, Spring or Fall black bear hunt.  This hunt will include airport pickup and return to the Kalispell airport, meals, lodging, 2X1 guide, vehicle transportation during the hunt.  Your choice: rifle or  bow. .Hunt from their tree stands, ground blinds or spot and stalk.  This hunt may also be upgraded to include turkey,, season timing permitted for $500 per hunter.  Bear license costs $350. and application date for Spring bear is April 14th, Fall bear is August 31.  Success rate for both is 100%. Turkey license is available for $110. each. Hunts to take place in 2013; Spring hunt, late April–mid May; Fall hunt, mid Sept. thru Oct.

8.  LAKE ERIE PERCH FISHING CHARTER:   Captain Eddie Volan (aka: SLUGGO) has been running his charter boat operation on Lake Erie for 26 years and has donated this 6 person perch fishing charter to our chapter for the past 8 years.  Located in Port Clinton, charter includes bait, ice and tackle for 6 passengers (or less) for 6 ½ hours or limit. Trip to take place July 20-September 20, 2012.  Once charter is booked, no changes may be made.  After 21 days, if customer cancels charter, all money paid is non-refundable.  Visit the Sluggo’s Charters web site and you’ll see why Eddie is continually ranked one of the best fishing charter men on Lake Erie.

9.  OHIO TROPHEY DEER HUNT:  Tim and Bobbette Carlisle, owners of Carlisle Legacy Whitetails are donating a 150 to 159” trophy class whitetail deer hunt on their private hunting estate.  You will stay in the comfort of first class accommodations on this hunting preserve and be served three fabulous meals per day.  High bidder will be able to harvest one (1) whitetail buck up to 159” and will also be given the opportunity to harvest one (1) mature doe during the hunt.  Carlisle Legacy Whitetails is the place where “Whitetail Dreams” really do come true.  They are a privately owned Wild Animal Hunting Preserve tucked away on 300 beautiful rolling acres in Walhonding, Ohio (Coshocton County) offering first class trophy whitetail hunts.  The high bidder will enjoy a three (3) day hunt; Thursday, Friday & Saturday.  (arrive Wednesday evening; depart on Sunday morning) This hunt will occur during available 2012 hunting season dates; September through December.  Book your hunts early for best hunting dates.  A guide will accompany you and you’ll hunt from luxurious Ranch King Blinds with propane heaters or one of over a dozen tree stands.  Choose your weapon:  rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, pistol or bow.  Hunt may be upgraded to harvest a greater than 159” deer.  Also, additional hunters/non-hunters may be added per brochure/website listed prices. 10.  CHARTER ARMS .38 REVOLVER and CCW CLASS:  Back by popular demand for  this Charter Arms .38 revolver package. 11.  ARGENTINE DOVE HUNTS:  Our very good friend, Paco Riestra is once again donating a high volume dove shooting trip to Cordova, Argentina for 4 hunters.  This hunt is open year around and must be taken within one year of this banquet date.  Hunt includes custom clearing assistance, 3 full days of dove shooting for 4 hunters, (2 days of half day hunting and 2 full days of hunting) , great meals (lots of grilled prime steaks) and comfortable accommodations in their private lodge, open bar,, all ground transportation from the Cordova airport and during the hunt and one bird boy per shooter.  Not included:  shotgun shells@$12.per box (12 and 20 gauge only) tips to your bird boy (usually $30. per day) hunting license ($260.), gun permits ($100. per gun)   NOTE:  Best to rent their Benelli semi-autos in 12 or 20 gauge for $80 per day.  Hunt must be booked 90 days prior to hunt date.  Also, pre-payment by each hunter for 80 boxes of shells and the $260. license fee  to be paid 90 days prior to the hunt date.  12 members of the Central Ohio chapter have taken this hunt over the past five years and it is a BLAST!!  (literally and figuratively)  Paco and his boys will really treat you well.

12.  STARR & BODILL AFRICAN SAFARIS:  Hunt the Eastern Cape of South Africa with Professional Hunters Dwaine Starr and Louis Bodhill.  Dwaine has donated African safaris at our last five banquets and has certainly provided a number of our members many memorable safari experiences. This 10 day hunt for 4 hunters includes:  daily rates, a $2000. credit towards trophy fees ($500. per hunter), all ground transportation, full service of experienced professional hunters (two hunter/one PH) and staff, pick up at East London, S. Africa airport and transfer to their lodge/hunting concession, hunting licenses, 14% VAT tax, trophy handling/raw prep and permit fees, daily laundry, all meals and open bar. 14.  MICHIGAN SALMON FISHING TRIP:  Former Central Ohio Chapter President and world class angler, Greg Rustemeyer, and his good buddy Jerry Gulley, are donating 2 days of salmon fishing on the picturesque Pere Marquette River in Western Michigan. This trip is for 2 people and will be taken in Sept. 2012.  Included:  2 nights lodging, meals, drinks in moderation  (I don’t believe that) , personal guide service (1 X 1) ,fly fishing equipment and flies. Not included:  Transportation to Baldwin, Michigan and fishing licenses. See Greg for details.

15.  TROPHY HUNT AT DOUBLE D RANCH:  Dannie and Nina Carte, owners of Double D, have certainly been long time supporters of our Central Ohio Chapter.  This year they’re donating a $2500. credit to be applied towards the trophy fee on any of their deer, ram, antelope, sheep, wild boar, goat, elk, and the list of available animals goes on and on.  The Double D  is nestled in the heart of Southern Ohio’s spectacular alpine wilderness of Vinton County and is one of the nation’s foremost trophy hunting facilities. Winning bidder can stay overnight at their lodge and then enjoy a day of great hunting.   A guide, field dressing, use of their ground blinds or tree stands are all included.  Your choice: gun, bow, handgun or muzzleloader,, odds are you WILL take home a nice trophy. 16.  TWO HUNTER OHIO WATERFOWL HUNT:  Chapter member and goose hunter extraordinaire, Al Hevezi of Heveshot Outfitters is donating another duck and goose hunt for 2 hunters this year.  This will be either a morning or afternoon Central Ohio field hunt and will include all decoys, layout equipment, snacks and lunch.  Hunter must have all necessary Ohio and Federal licenses/stamps, etc. and use a shogun set up for hunting waterfowl. (3 shot maximum)  Hunt will take place in January, 2013.  FYI.  Mark Wehinger said, “ This was a GREAT hunt!  I shot till I almost ran out of shells.” 

17. MASSIVE CANADIAN TROPHY ELK:  Award winning Silvertine Wildlife has once again donated a 3 day hunt for 2 hunters, hunting the elk species of their choice. (Rocky Mountain, Roosevelt, Manitoban or Russian White Elk starting at 325 SCI) This donation covers “Preserve Fees” for both hunters (a $1100 value)  plus a $1900 “Trophy Fee” credit, to be shared between the two clients as they see fit.  Hunt will include 4 nights and 3 days of fully serviced accommodations.  All bedding, meals and non-alcohol beverages provided, plus professional guide service, field prep of meat, cape,  preparation of antlers for transportation, official SCI scoring, and use of shooting range.  Not included:  Balance owing on trophy fees on game taken, alcoholic beverages, car rental (available at the airport.  camp is an approx. 2 hour drive) and gratuities.  Silvertine is one of Saskatchewan Canada’s most challenging and heavily forested hunt estates.  Elk and Deer are free roaming on over 1000 acres of old growth aspen and spruce, along with many rolling hills, streams and gullies.  Silvertine specializes in Archery and Muzzleloader hunts, but rifle enthusiasts are always welcome.  Hunting can be done from large enclosed tree stands or still-hunting the timber.  Your party will be the only hunters on the estate at this time, and have exclusive use.  Export permits are also provided.  Hunters can choose from a large selection of dates between August 20, 2012 and November 29, 2012, or they can choose to hunt the 2013 or 2014 season.  A visit to their very well done and most extensive website is a “must see” experience at: www.silvertine.ca

18.  SPECIAL NOTICE:  We’ll also be offering a Silvertine Wildlife TROPHY WHITETAIL DEER HUNT starting at 140 SCI.  This 3 day, 2 person hunt will mirror all of the conditions and parameters of their above (#17) elk hunt.

19.  LAKE ERIE SMALLMOUTH BASS CHARTER:  Professional bass fisherman, Anthony Gioffre,  has once again donated a 1-day, 2 person Lake Erie fishing trip.  This outing is catch and release using only artificial bait.  Food and refreshments will be provided.  Scheduling arrangements can be made with Tony Gioffre.

20.  PHEASANT HUNT AT THE VAN DARBY CLUB:  This will be a 10 bird pheasant hunt for up to 3 hunters at The Van Darby Club north of Mechanicsburg.  Hunt can be videotaped by the host and will include transportation from Columbus, a guide, one of the club’s dogs (winning bidder may use own dog) a gourmet lunch and libations after the hunt.  Additional pheasants and/or Hungarian partridges  can be added for a nominal fee.  Hunt may be taken in the 2012-2013 season, October through March.

21.   FLORIDA VACATION STAY:  This beautiful 3 bedroom private condo is located in the prestigious Pelican Sound Golf and River Club, 20 minutes from the Ft. Meyers airport.  It will be offered for 7 to 10 days between the dates of July 15th and December 20th, 2012 or 2013. It’s fully furnished and has it’s own pool and hot tub,  Only10 minutes to the ocean.  (2) foursome rounds of golf is included.  Pictures and additional info to follow. Please check back in 30 days.

22.  LAKE ERIE WALLEYE FISHING CHARTER:  Capt. 23.  ZULU NYALA PHOTO SAFARI:  A bigThank You” goes out to Trevor Shaw, owner of Zulu Nyala for offering this most popular South African photo safari to our chapter  the past 8 years. 24.  MONTANA:  ELK, DEER, and  MOOSE HUNT:  This is the third year that Silver Bow Outfitters in Libby, Montana has donated this 7 day, 2 hunter combination hunt.  You’ll be hunting Region 1 (N.W. Montana) Districts 103/104 which is mountainous backcountry and includes the Cabinet Wilderness Area.  This is a 100% fair chase hunt right in the middle of an area noted for high trophy quality of all species and very good animal populations.  Your choice;  archery or rifle.  Archery hunts will be scheduled September-early October.  Rifle hunts, late October-November; all in years 2013 or 2014.  Archery hunts are ranch based with backcountry camps and overnight backpacking options.  Rifle hunts are all ranch based.  Includes guides      (2 X 1),  all meals, comfortable bunkhouse/cabins and wall tents for archery. Access by horses, 4X4 ‘s and foot.  Good physical conditioning will certainly improve your odds of success.

25.BALKAN CHAMOIS HUNT IN MACEDONIA:  This is a 5 day hunt for 1 hunter and 1 observer.

26.  SCOTLAND:  ROE DEER HUNT ON BALMORAL ESTATE:  This is a 1 person hunt for 2 Roe Deer (bucks) on the Royal Family’s Balmoral 49,000 acre Estate  in June, 2012 (if available) or 2013. Success rate: 100%.  Includes:  ROUND TRIP coach airfare from Port Columbus Airport, all ground transfers, two (2) roe buck licenses and trophy fees, lodging at the luxurious Glen Lui Hotel, meals and guide fees. Not included: alcohol and gratuities. This donation is offered by Michael Grosse , owner, International Adventures Unlimited.  Michael has held the exclusive hunting rights on the Estate since 2003 and will be personally hosting the successful bidder to insure the hunt goes exactly as presented.  (rental of game keeper’s rifle is recommended)  Michael’s company also has the necessary U.S. Fish and Wildlife import licenses and can ship, receive and clear trophies very inexpensively for the winning bidder. (approx.$290.) Hunt begins on day 1, arrival in Scotland on day 2, hunting and other activities on days 3,4 and 5 and return home on day 6.  Because the number of bucks available each year depends on the number that the Royal Family keeps for themselves, the second buck may be harvested on a neighboring estate.

NOTE:  Successful bidder will also be permitted to have a second hunter join him/her for a $2000. discount off the normal $6950. price  

Also, a non-hunter/guest may be added for $2950. which includes the round trip airfare, transfers, lodging and meals. Michael’s wife, Danielle, and her driver of 15 years, will make sure that the non-hunter(s) have a great experience touring historical sites, castles and shopping.  Hunter(s) and guest(s) also have the opportunity to ride the Queen’s horses and possibly play a round of golf on the Royal Family’s private course. (minimal estate charges)

27.  NEWFOUNDLAND MOOSE HUNT:  This is a 6 day, 1 hunter moose hunt in Southwestern Newfoundland with Steel Mountain Lodge.   MOOSE LICENSE INCLUDED (a $450. value) Your choice; rifle or muzzleloader.  Also included: all taxes, float plane or helicopter to and from lodge (from Stephenville, NF) food, lodging, guide (1 X 1), field prep of meat and cape. Not includes: Taxidermy work, meat processing (available locally) transportation to Newfoundland, any lodging in Stephenville prior to or following the hunt.  Bear and Woodland Caribou licenses can be added at hunter’s cost. Additional hunters can be added for $4900. each.

28.  SALMON FISHING IN ALASKA: This is a 6 day, 5 night fully guided fishing trip for 1 angler to the historic (and remote) McDOUGALL LODGE on Lake Creek, Alaska. (approx. 75 miles N.W. of Anchorage)  This package includes fully guided fishing  (tackle, rods and reels), lodging, meals, fillet, freeze and vacuum package your fish.  Morning arrival on the first day and departure on the 6th day.  This trip can be taken in 2012 or 2013, during the fishing season beginning in June and running into September.  Package does not include fishing license ($55. plus $30 for King) airfare from lower 48 States, floatplane (approx.  $225. per person, roundtrip), gratuities and alcoholic beverages.

NOTE:  Winning bidder must bring another angler at a discounted price of $2950.  (normally $3250.)   Add 2 anglers at $2750. each; 3 or more added for only $2550. each.  Non-angler and children under 12 = $1625. each.

PROVINCE, SOUTH AFRICA:  This 2012 safari is 5 full days of hunting for 2 hunters with Hartzview Safaris and includes:  two (2) wildebeest, two (2) Bless buck and two (2) Springbuck, lodging, great food, daily fees, guide (2 X 1), transportation to and from Kimberly Airport, field prep of game. Non-hunters/guest can be added at $200 per day.
